A living composition in wool — 3 × 2 m
Handwoven · Natural wool · Flat-weave kilim · Naturally dyed
Dense geometric ornament. A warm, light-responsive palette. Built to last and made to be looked at.
The piece
At three metres by two, this kilim commands a room without demanding it. The geometric ornament is dense and layered — motifs building on one another across the field, bordered by frames that reward close attention and read clearly from across the room. This is pattern as structure: a considered way of organizing space and meaning on a flat textile surface, not decoration applied after the fact.
The palette is warm and complex. Tones shift depending on the hour and the angle of the light — clear and distinct in the morning, deeper and more unified by evening. This responsiveness is a defining quality of naturally dyed wool, and one of the things that makes living with a piece like this genuinely pleasurable over time. It does not look the same twice.
Construction
Woven entirely by hand from natural wool using the kilim flat-weave technique. The flat surface is easy to clean and maintain. The wool is naturally resilient. The construction is tight enough to hold well in rooms with regular foot traffic — this is a piece built for use, not just display.

Placement
Works particularly well in living rooms and dining areas, where the scale and layered detail can be fully appreciated. At this size, it anchors a seating arrangement or defines a dining space with quiet authority. Mounted horizontally as a wall hanging, the composition reads almost like a textile painting — the central field framed by its borders, the whole surface telling a coherent visual story.
Care
- Vacuum gently in the direction of the weave — no beater bar.
- Rotate periodically to ensure even wear and light exposure.
- Spot clean with cold water and mild soap. Do not saturate.
- Air occasionally in indirect sunlight to freshen fibres and maintain colour.
