Does a 3m x 2m Moroccan Rug Fit Your Room? A Room-by-Room Guide

We keep our rug collection at a single size — 3m x 2m — deliberately. Here's exactly which rooms that size actually fits well, so you can check before ordering instead of guessing.

Living rooms

3m x 2m comfortably catches the front legs of a standard sofa and one or two armchairs, leaving a clean border of bare floor around the edges. This is the most common living room layout in European homes and the size most interior designers default to for a mid-size room.

Primary bedrooms

Placed so the rug extends out from under the bed on both sides and at the foot, 3m x 2m works well under a queen or double bed, giving a soft landing when you step out of bed without the rug looking undersized against the furniture.

Dining rooms

The rule for dining rooms is that the rug needs to extend at least 60-70cm beyond the table on all sides, so chairs stay on the rug even when pulled out. 3m x 2m fits a 4-6 seat dining table comfortably under this rule.

Where 3m x 2m is too large

Small bedrooms, narrow hallways, and compact apartment living rooms (under roughly 12m²) may find 3m x 2m overwhelming for the space. In these cases, a runner-style layout or a smaller custom size (see our note on custom sizing) is worth considering instead.

Where 3m x 2m might be too small

Large open-plan living spaces or rooms with sectional sofas sometimes need a larger footprint to anchor the seating arrangement properly. If your sofa setup is unusually large, measure first — you may want a custom size rather than our standard rug.
